About Silicon Forecast
Component pricing deserves a memory—and some provenance.
Silicon Forecast is an independent UK project exploring how to make PC component price movements clearer, more reproducible and more honest about their limitations.
Why it exists
A price today is useful. Context is better.
PC builders can find many current offers, but it is harder to see whether a price is genuinely unusual, how a product class has moved over time, or which market events may be affecting availability.
We are starting with one deliberately narrow research problem: whether authorised UK offer data can support a dependable history for comparable 32GB DDR5 desktop-memory kits.
Publishing principles
Abstain from uncertain matches rather than publish confident nonsense.
Every real observation should say when it was collected and how fresh it is.
Coverage gaps and commercial relationships belong beside the numbers.
Current status
Researching, not performing.
The project is in pre-launch development. No affiliate product feeds are connected, no live price comparisons are published and the demonstration chart uses synthetic data.
We are seeking suitable authorised publisher and retailer partnerships before testing the initial observation panel.
