How to read it
Movement relative to a baseline
An index value of 100 represents the starting baseline. A value of 95 would mean the eligible basket is 5% below that baseline under the same calculation rules; it does not mean a product costs £95.
Real observations will display their collection date, basket coverage, quality state and calculation version. Missing or untrusted inputs will remain gaps rather than being silently estimated.
Comparable price
VAT and delivery treatment must be deterministic and known before an offer qualifies.
Visible coverage
An affiliate-observed sample will be described as such, with merchant and product coverage disclosed.
Reproducible history
Calculation rules and corrections will be versioned so published values can be replayed.
